Presidents Message

Welcome to summer!  Your 2024 CADAT board of directors is off to a great start and already hard at work.

 The Education and Professional Development Committee has begun planning for both the mid-year virtual meeting and the 2025 conference.  Using the data collected from the conference survey, they are working diligently to develop a great mid-year virtual meeting that will include the subject matter you requested.

The Government Relations Committee continues to be involved in the process of the Dental Board of California’s Sunset bill, SB 1453.  As the bill moves through the process, the language has changed many times.  CADAT and the Alliance continue to voice concerns regarding many various parts of the bill, but most vehemently with the proposed language that would allow the unlicensed dental assistant to qualify for the coronal polish course with only the 8-hour infection control course and CPR, but without any other previous education or work experience.  Our lobbyist, Cody Boyles is a great support as he continues to schedule meetings with legislators to educate them on dental assisting and share our concerns regarding SB 1453.

The Conference Committee has also started to work on the annual conference for 2025.  Thank you to those who attended the 2024 annual conference. It was a great success!   And thank you to those who helped with registration, as moderators and room hosts.  The conference surveys have been reviewed and your input and suggestions are very helpful as we plan the 2025 conference.
